Flush mount microphone or gooseneck microphone for council tables?

For a clean council table with speakers sitting 60–80 cm away, I would lean toward a gooseneck microphone (Pluggable Condenser Gooseneck Microphone in XLR) rather than a flush-mount boundary mic.

A boundary microphone picks up well at close range, but at 60–80 cm the pickup level drops and you are more likely to push gain and trigger feedback. A gooseneck can be positioned closer to the speaker, which gives a stronger, cleaner signal at that distance. If you want the cleanest table possible, a Digital Array Microphone (ceiling or on-table) is another good option — it covers the seating area without a visible stem on the table.

Whichever you choose, route it through the dB-NET DSP and use its feedback suppression to keep the room stable.
