We are installing HDBaseT Extender Transmission for a training room.

Should the CAT cable go directly from transmitter to receiver, or can it pass through a normal network switch?
The CAT cable must go directly from transmitter to receiver — HDBaseT is a point-to-point signal, not standard Ethernet, so it cannot pass through a normal network switch.
Run a single CAT5e/CAT6 cable straight from the HDMI/VGA to HDBaseT Wallplate (transmitter) to the HDBaseT extender receiver near the display. If your run is under 70 m use the 70 m model, and up to 100 m with the 100 m version. No switch, no router in between.
