Rethinking the Conference Nameplate: VISSONIC Delivers an E-Ink Solution for Modern Meeting Rooms
Conference nameplates, though seemingly trivial, span the entire meeting lifecycle. Whenever delegate lists are revised, venue power fails, or cameras start rolling, conventional nameplate solutions reveal their weaknesses: slow preparation workflows, burdensome on-site maintenance, and screen flicker when filmed. A new nameplate solution that updates in minutes, uses minimal power and remains flicker-free on camera is therefore the ideal choice for modern meeting management.

Challenges
· Lengthy Preparation, Zero Reusability
For a 100-delegate conference, preparing paper nameplates — from design, printing and trimming to boxing and on-site placement — can take a full day or more. Any last-minute adjustment requires locating individual cards, reprinting and replacing them on site. Each new event also incurs fresh material and labour costs.
· Dependent on Continuous Power
LCD nameplates need constant power to hold their content — every lit minute costs electricity. If power is lost on-site, the screens go black and the content disappears, disrupting the proceedings.
· Disruptive on Camera
Powered by backlights, LCD displays are prone to banded flicker from screen refresh under camera capture. This is a major drawback for press conferences and other broadcast-ready events.
Solution
To tackle these challenges, VISSONIC offers an E‑Ink nameplate solution embodied by the VIS-NP10E. Powered by E‑Ink screen technology, it forms text via charged particles within microcapsules, delivering a print-like, ink-on-paper look while slashing power consumption.

1. Redefining the Conference Nameplate — Fast Updates, Ultra-Low Power, Flicker-Free on Camera
In response to the three major pain points of conventional nameplate solutions, VISSONIC E-Ink nameplates deliver the corresponding answers.
· Fast batch updates
The management software enables bulk attendee updates to slash pre-meeting prep time. Last-minute changes need no reprinting or manual replacement, and the visual seat map pinpoints nameplates for one-click real-time content refresh.
· Near-zero static power draw with content retention on power loss
Power is consumed only during refreshes. Its static display draws nearly zero power, cutting charging frequency and boosting energy efficiency. Content remains visible amid power outages to avoid black screens and reduce maintenance overhead.
· No blue light, flicker-free, anti-glare
The paper-like E‑Ink screen reduces visual fatigue for long sessions and delivers flicker-free camera capture. It works seamlessly in live streams, news clips and group photos with no post-processing or camera repositioning.
2. What We Always Stand By—Interconnectivity, and Nameplates Are No Exception
Our E-Ink nameplates can be used independently as stand-alone units, and can also be connected to the VISSONIC conference system to work with conference units.
· Standalone or system-connected operation
It works independently by connecting to a PC over USB, Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi for content management. It can also join the conference system via the VIS-ANB expansion box.
· Automatic seat mapping
Once connected to the conference system, the nameplate can be configured to share the same ID as the conference unit at its seat for automatic binding. Content updates automatically align with each seat.
· Speech status linkage
The top dual-colour LED indicates status in real time: green for speech requests, red while speaking. The chair can oversee proceedings, and camera directors can target the speaker easily.

3. More Details—Carrying More Information, Fitting More Scenarios
We have also adopted targeted design optimizations for screen specifications, content layout and expandability, enabling the nameplates to present more valuable information and adapt to a wider range of scenarios.
· Paper-like dual-sided display
Featuring a 10.85-inch E‑Ink screen, it supports four-colour rendering in black, white, red and yellow. Both sides can be managed synchronously or independently.
· Multilingual, symbol and custom layout support
It supports English, Chinese, Arabic, Thai and other languages plus symbols. Customizable fields include name, title, logo, QR code and avatar for international conferences.
· Cascaded expansion
Our VIS-ANB expansion box supports up to 8 nameplates. For large-scale events, units can be cascaded according to seat count, covering small workshops with a dozen seats all the way up to main halls with hundreds of delegates.
